Description
1995 Joseph Phelps Insignia Napa Valley MAGNUM
Compared to the 1994 Insignia, the 1995 blend is equally well balanced but not yet quite as forward, with greater structure and depth due to the nature of the tannins extracted from the ’95 vintage. It may well prove to be the longer-lived wine.
Critical Acclaim
98 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
A wine of great intensity and richness, it displays classic notes of licorice, barbecue smoke, creme de cassis, cedarwood and forest floor. Full-bodied with sensational purity, a multidimensional mouthfeel and a long, voluptuous finish with no hard edges, it has only reached mid-adolescence and has at least two decades of life ahead of it.
94 Wine Spectator
Very Bordeaux-like in its complex cedar, currant and anise aromas. Firm, concentrated and still quite tannic, it is bold and rich, with layers of currant, plum, mineral, cedar and tobacco flavors, many of which are still in their youthful primary stage.
