Description
2012 Chateau Fourcas-Hosten, Listrac-Medoc, France
The 2012 vintage saw lower yields at Fourcas Hosten which has in turn lead to a more concentrated style than the previous vintage. The wine is 53% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged in a mixture of new and old barrels (93% in total) with the remainder ageing in concrete tanks.
Chteau Fourcas Hosten is a French wine estate situated in the Haut-Mdoc district of Bordeaux. The chteau focuses on the production of Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blends from its 47 hectares (116 acres) of vineyards in the heart of Listrac-Mdoc.
Nearby estates include Chteau Chasse-Spleen, some four kilometers (2.5 miles) due east, in the neighboring Moulis-en-Medoc appellation which, along with Listrac-Mdoc, lies to the west of the land between northern Margaux and southern Saint-Julien. Just north of Listrac lies the hamlet and lieu-dit of Le Fourcas.
